Hydroxycut

Liver Damage :: Rhabdomyolysis :: Creatine Kinase

Hydroxycut is a dietary supplement with ingredients used for weight-loss, fat burners, energy-enhancers, low carb diet aids, and for water loss. Hydroxycut is marketed under the Iovate Health Sciences, Inc. and MuscleTech brand names.

Apparently, some of the latest reviews - by the FDA and others - of Hydroxycut products are associated with possible long term side effects such as rhabdomyolysis (muscle damage which is indicated by the level of CK, CK-MB or creatine kinase in the blood) and a number of serious liver injuries and damage.

Iovate has agreed to recall Hydroxycut products from the market.

FDA ACTION

According to the latest reports and reviews, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received 23 reports of side effects such as adverse liver effects or damage in users of Hydroxycut products, including:

  • asymptomatic hyperbilirubinemia
  • jaundice
  • liver damage
  • liver transplant
  • death

The FDA recommends that you should stop using Hydroxycut immediately.

If you were using or are using Hydroxycut that was part of the 2009 recall, and have developed one or more of the above referenced side effects or health problems, please consult a physician immediately.
